When it comes to emergency preparedness and survival awareness, an individual or family needs to make a plan. The plan needs to focus on the necessities for human survival, which are water, food, and shelter. If a natural disaster strikes your neighborhood, have you made a plan to sustain yourself and your loved ones?

Obviously, staying at home during an emergency situation is the best case scenario. Your home is the best shelter available. If you were prepared before the emergency hit, you would have food and water stored for such an emergency. In my opinion, most emergencies would allow you to stay at home. Power outages and blizzards, for example, would not necessitate an evacuation of your home. But other disasters, such as hurricanes, earthquakes, pandemics, and civil unrest might dictate your evacuation.

If evacuation was necessary, you would need a way to bring survival items to another location. Enter the survival bug out bag. ‘Bugging out’ refers to getting out of dodge. If problems arise that force you and your family to relocate quickly, you will need a system and plan in place to ensure survival.

A survival bug out bag could be a backpack, duffle bag, or rolling suitcase. The bag needs to have items that will allow you to survive the duration of the emergency. If you expect to be away from home for more than a few days, it would be wise to pack more provisions. The basics that any bug out bag need to have include food, water, shelter, and possibly some first aid. These are a must. Anything less would require you to scavenge or loot. Remember to over prepare, and extra items always give you options.

A survival bug out bag should be an essential part of everyone’s survival plan. Equip yours today.

If you are a regular scuba diver, then a diving watch is an important accessory that cannot be neglected. Diving watches are designed with the specific purpose of operating under water and under considerably more pressure than a normal sports watch. In order to ensure that a watch can operated under the conditions of a scuba diving mission, the ISO 6425 international standard is a measure that guarantees that a watch with the worlds “DIVER’S” on the back of the case has passed a series of stringent tests and that it is adequate to function as a tool for timing your time underwater.

The majority of diving watches have a range of about 200 meters water resistance. The best dive watch under 200 dollars, will probably only be suitable to depths of 100 meters, although there are exceptions. As with anything else, the more you spend, the more capable the available scuba dive watches will be. When it comes to the quality of diving watches, there is really no limit to the amount of money you can spend and for the top Rolex mens dive watches you can expect to pay thousands, however these watches will last you a lifetime if you look after them and have them regularly serviced.

While there are some fantastic looking dive watches for men, when it comes to purchasing the right diving watch for your purposes, you are making an investment in your safety under water as well as an addition to your wardrobe. To make the best decision when you are shopping for watches, it helps to gain an awareness about the uses and workings of the various choices that are available. The best diving watches should work well in the harshest of environments that you will be expecting to encounter and you should be able to read your watch, even in unfavorable lighting conditions wight may be pitch darkness if you are diving to considerable depths.

While diving watches have become a status symbol, a mark of adventure and boldness, if you are a serious diver you should choose features above looks, regardless of just how much the watches are you browsing through grab you. The main goal of your purchase should be to purchase the highest quality timepiece for your underwater activities. If you make a poor choice then you risk ascending too fast, which can have dire consequences for your health. With this in mind you should be considering only the best mens sport watches with diving abilities. While you may not like to spend the money, a diving watch is much more durable than a regular sports watch and is a long-term investment that should last you for years, if not a lifetime.

Once you have become an experienced alpine skier, you may begin to think about how multiple pairs of snow skis could be of benefit. Like most things having the right tool for the job is critical and this concept is no different when it comes to skiing. In fact, when you have the right skis for the particular snow conditions you will find how much easier the skiing is and as a result more fun. However, with the high cost of skis on today’s market, how can anyone afford more then one pair of skis? Well the answer: You just have to know where to look!

There are many factors that need to be evaluated before you make the decision to buy multiple pairs of skis. The first, and most important, is your own ability. If you are an intermediate skier or above then you would probably benefit from buying a pair of cheap powder skis for those deep snow days. However as a novice you may not even venture out of the lodge on such days. Another thing to consider is the average range of conditions you typically ski each year. If you primarily ski on the east coast or someplace that does not receive a lot of natural snow, you may not need multiple pairs of skis but maybe just a pair of cheap all mountain skis. All mountain skis are great, like the name suggests, they can handle many different snow conditions.

Once you have decided whether or not multiple pairs of skis will benefit you, the next thing to do is find some great deals. The internet is notorious for offering great deals on just about anything you could ever want and ski equipment is no exception. Many online retailers offer deals of the day which showcase ski gear up to 90% off. Depending on your timing, this can be a great way to buy skis cheap.

If you prefer to buy from you local ski shop, consider attending any annual ski swaps they may offer. These typically occur in the fall before the season starts and can also be a great place to sell your old gear. Another tip is to check your local ski shop or ski area at the end of the season for any liquidation deals as they prepare for next years equipment.

With a little research you should find that there is no reason to pay full retail for skis or ski gear anymore!

For those of you have to routinely perform jobs that require you to crawl around or move in and out of things, losing your wallet is likely a fear that you have often. It’s actually great fear of many men throughout the world, and as someone who has lost their wallet before; I can tell you that it’s truly a terrible experience. Fortunately, a chain bifold wallet can prevent this from happening altogether.

These chain wallets have all kinds of different designs on them which can do great things like show your personality. Well there’s a great use you can also get from wallets due to their chain attachment. They prevent you from losing it completely since the chain attaches the wallet to your body permanently.

If this is going to be a gift for man, who’s jobs or hobbies frequently have him flying around or crawling on all fours, it’s the perfect accessory for him. He keeps his wallet secure in his back pocket, and if it should come out it will stay with him until he puts it back in. If he is a truck driver, he could lose it in one state and not find it until he gets to the one that he lost it in. So if this is going to be a gift, a chained bifold wallet would be a perfect choice.

Other people who can greatly benefit from this product are those who frequently join in with extreme sports. This includes skateboarders, rollerbladers, and of course bicyclists. They’re often traveling at high speeds and down-hill, so if their wallet came out during this excursion, it’d be very unlikely that they’d find it again. This is a situation where a chain wallet could easily allow you to save lots of time and money because if it popped out it would still be right next to you.

For uncertain times brought about by weather interruptions and power outages, it is best to secure at least one hand crank flashlight for emergency purposes. A hand crank flashlight will be a good emergency companion at all times because it is very important to put a great emphasis on high visibility at times when it seems like danger is lurking practically anywhere. Many household accidents are primarily caused by darkness and low visibility in times of power interruptions but if you have an emergency tool like a hand held crank flashlight then you don’t have to worry that much.

Perhaps what defines a hand held crank flashlight (and probably what differentiate it from other types of flashlights, also) is the fact that you don’t have to rely on those frustrating rechargeable or exhaustible batteries to power the flashlight. Although batteries in general would do you good at some point, you can’t deny the fact that in longer hours of a power outage and in the end you may run out of them eventually. But an emergency hand crank flashlight will never let you down. The unlimited lighting power feature of it will guarantee you that you will always have 100% visibility to safely guide you and steer you away from an untoward accident.

The need to have a portable and hand held crank flashlight is also very important for those people who like to go out trekking high altitude places like mountains or go out for an adventurous camping experience. Being away from home comes with a huge risk – inaccessibility to some important materials that you can only get from your home. But if there is something that you have to bring around with you when you go out backpacking, trekking or traveling in foreign places, a handy portable flashlight is the way to go. And it should not only be an ordinary battery powered flashlight, it should be a portable handheld crank flashlight.

On a relative discussion about emergency situations, portable hand crank flashlights do not disappoint. Most innovative versions of crank flashlights now incorporate useful features like weather radio (that can stream live in radio stations, especially to weather news related ones), charging dock (that can charge general types of mobile phones) and lastly solar powered hand crank flashlights. The last feature – the solar powered functionality – gives an alternative option to the power source of your flashlight. It’s indeed wonderful to know that you can charge your flashlight through solar charging. It also promotes alternative energy sources, something that most people should try once in a while.

For emergency situations, whether you are trapped at home, driving your car at night, or away for a camping experience, it is highly recommended to bring with you an emergency companion, that is, a handy and portable handheld crank flashlight.

Choosing the right set of clothing is an essential part of any outdoors trip. Although it may not seem important, you may change your mind if you have to lug around a five pound coat or are freezing cold and wet because of inappropriate clothing. Listed below are some basic tips to packing proper clothes for any outdoors trip.

Water Resistant Clothes

No matter where you are going, always bring waterproof clothes if you are traveling outdoors. Bring an entire set of clothing, including a waterproof jacket, waterproof trousers, and waterproof shoes. If you not own this type of clothing, you can find men and ladies waterproof trousers in most outdoor stores. This type of clothing should be completely resistant to water, but make sure it is not too heavy.

Sunny-time Clothes

A silk shirt only weighs a few ounces and it can be rolled up to fit in small areas. If you want to do ultra-light hiking and backpacking, then lightweight clothes are the way to go. You can also take them on overseas trips since they weigh so little. They can also dry quickly, prevent you from getting sweaty, and are easy to wash and clean.

Nylon shorts are also very light and are guaranteed to keep your body cool while hiking. However, you should be careful of any bites you may get from tics, fleas, or other bugs. You may want to bring a long pair of pants just in case you need them later on. Zips off convertible hiking pants are an excellent addition for any outdoorsman because they can be converted into either shorts or long pants. You can keep them as shorts during a hot day and then place on the leggings during the evening to protect your body from mosquitos and other bugs. This type of pants usually costs more, but they are well worth the money.

What if, after 10 minutes of reading this article, emergency sirens started blaring in your town, and the National Guard began rolling through your neighborhood, giving everyone only minutes to gather their things and leave (possibly without ever seeing their homes again)? I realize that’s pretty dark, and that the chances of it actually happening may be very slim where you live, but what would you do? The reality is, despite he small likelihood, it absolutely is possible, and if you don’t have a plan – if you don’t have your stuff together before it happens, you might be facing some brutally hard living (or dying).

Creating an emergency backpack for such unfortunate situations can save you and your family from serious physical and emotional damage. Sure, being in that situation, even well prepared, could issue a major toll on your well-being, but if you take a little bit of time, and a little bit of money to put it all together today, you’ll at least radically improve your chances of surviving an apocalyptic tomorrow.

Every expert has his or her own opinion in what belongs in an emergency backpack, but across the board, the fundamentals are simple – pack only what you need, pack very lightly, and don’t wait until it’s too late to get it done. The plan isn’t strap enough supplies to your back to get you and your family of four through 6 months in the wild Yukon wilderness. If you happen to have the skill set to do that, that’s terrific, but the point is, there’s no way to do it on mobile supplies alone. You’re generally going to be packing for 72 hours – maybe even a few days more. You’re giving yourself a fighting head start of living through an evacuation until help arrives, and a more permanent plan is assembled.

Those are the basics – the idea has been planted. If you’re serious about assembling your own kit (which you should be), read this article on building an emergency backpack kit, for far more details.

If you frequently have reason to be outdoors in the cold weather, there are several things to keep in mind. For starters, in the worst case scenario, cold can kill you. You could lose a toe, a foot, or even a whole leg if hypothermia manages to set in to your body. Hypothermia is when your body part/s freeze beyond repair. So at all times, keep this in mind when going into the cold weather for periods of time that may allow you to become ill from hypothermia.

Of course, you won’t die of hypothermia if you are only going for a walk in the woods to collect some kindling, but all the same, it is best to stay warm. When you are warm, you can think better, you can move better, your reaction times are better and you are less likely to lose a footing by way of being stiff and cold and sore. When you are warm, your muscles can work better. If you did need to run, for whatever reason, or climb, you wouldn’t want to do it while being freezily cold.

Thermal underwear for winter is an ideal solution to potentially getting too cold. It traps your own body heat in on your skin while allowing your skin to breathe. This is a necessary quality for an article of clothing that sits next to your skin, so when you are looking for a thermals set, make sure that you look into the options for natural fibres. Natural fibres are far superior to sunthetics, no matter what the makers of synthetics will tell you. Nature always does it best. Wool and silk make natural fibres than can wick away moisture from the skin. These are going to be better than cotton thermals, because cotton tends to hold moisture within its structure and it may end up making you even colder, especially if you stop moving and sit down or stay still for a length of time. Thermals can keep you warm in the great outdoors.

While choosing the sleeping bag, it is important to consider the type of insulation fill. Sleeping bags are usually prepared with down fill or synthetic fill. All these types have both advantages as well as disadvantages. However, it is advisable to choose the down filled one.

The reason and the benefits of down sleeping bags are discussed below.

The weight:

When climbing, both your backpack weight and its content’s weight is crucial one. If you carry a lot, no doubt, you will be tired out soon and will require a break. The down sleeping bag could help you by making your pack weigh lighter.

Warmer than the Synthetic filled:

The weight of the synthetic fills cannot match the down fills to warmth proportion. Down filled bags catches lots of air and performs as a superior insulator than all other. The warm sleeping bag is an essential one during your camping in cold. Definitely, everyone expects the composed sleep during night.

The compactness:

While choosing camping gear, the pack space will be the key factor. The down sleeping bag would squeeze more to adopt fewer backpack room than the synthetic filled. This gives you more space for all other things like additional clothes and food.

Even though down sleeping bags are having many advantages, there are some disadvantages also like the flexibility and price.

During moisture conditions, down sleeping bags may be a wrong choice. Because, the wet down sleeping bag become extremely dense, and providing small insulation. To avoid this issue and for making your rainy camping comfortable, choose the down bags that are available made with waterproof material.

Another disadvantage is its cost. Down sleeping bags are expensive while compared with the synthetic filled sleeping bags. Of course, for higher quality bag, you are typically paying when you choose the down bag though. Either way picking the right sleeping bag is just as crucial to your camping trip as it is to bring along the right tent or camping chairs. Take your time and do your research and you will have a sleeping bag that will be both comfortable and will last for many years.

OK everyone grab your bug out bag because we got to go!!!! What you don’t have a bug out bag? This is the one thing that everyone should have, and I don’t mean a half empty backpack that you have to empty out before you can use. A bug out bag is essential for survival in any emergency situation or natural disaster.

Do I need to remind you of all those people in New Orleans during Katrina who only had the clothes on their backs. Could you even imagine how much easier their lives would have been if the had spent a few hours creating a bug out bag that they could have grabbed out of the closet and hit the road with. They could have had clean dry clothes to change into, plenty of food and some water to get them through the first few days!

I would urge everyone out there to make a bug out bag because you never know when you will need it! Another thing I would consider is making one for every member of your family even your kids. They can carry a few things too, and don’t forget to put something in there fun for them to do like a coloring book. It will help them pass the time and take their minds off the situation.

If you don’t know how or what to put in a bug out bag then I would suggest getting a book like “The Bug Out Book” it will teach you everything you need to know about making a bug out bag. It doesn’t cost very much, only $9 and also comes free of charge with the “USMC Winter Survival Course Guide Book” and the “Breath Mint Tin Survival Kit How-to” If you want to get a copy of “The Bug Out Book” you can by Clicking Here!

These books will get you on the right track, and take away any worries of not being prepared when the worst happens. Now get out there and start building your bag!
